making things up

a little something about laundry and monkeys

I need this heat to go away so Audrey can WEAR some of her tiny cute baby clothes before she grows out of them. I just put away a bunch of laundry, and let me tell you, that girl’s closet is exploding with baby adorability. And yet she goes naked. All day, every day. (Well, she wears diapers. I’m not THAT committed to cooling off.)

She’s also figured out how to grab “toys” (read: hair, used Kleenex, clean laundry, and the occasional rattle) to play with, and seems to have entered that stage where they play using their feet as much as their hands.

Except I am not entirely sure that IS a stage. If you know for sure, please enlighten me. Unless it happens to be a stage only baby baboons go through or something. In that case, you really don’t need to tell me. Feel free to just keep it to yourself.

Um -I've always been able to grab objects with my toes, so there may be some primate genes rattling around in there....sorry

I can pick up things with my toes, too. It comes in really handy when I'm too lazy to bend down. My husband always makes monkey sounds when he sees me doing this. My daughter and baby both inherited this trait from me.

Just be glad she is a girl. Boys tend to play with something else all the time!

Hey, I think you should encourage this toe-grabbing thing. Maybe she'll be artistic as well. Then she can paint with her toes, earn a fortune, and provide a nice retirement for you someday. Ya gotta plan ahead! ;-)

My two older sons were born in July and they wore either just a diaper or a diaper and onesy until September. It's just too hot for anything else.

Here from the Carnival!

Totally normal!! (Is that why they call me a monkey?) No really! When I was a kid I saw where these handicap kids could write and draw with their feet - so yea I had to try. I got pretty good. I quit practicing though. :)

And don't worry about those clothes, keep that baby cool!!

My kids never did anything interesting with there feet. Maybe because I put socks on them all the time.

I can grab with my toes.
I could go semi naked, too. IT's just so HOT!
But I would get arrested for being a menace to society.

I'll stick with grabbing things with my toes.

PS. just keep the cutest little girl outfit, have it sealed in airtight ... and bring it out and show her when she's 18. And video the toes

LOL it is a stage, my little guy did it! I hope it cools down so she can wear those cute little baby clothes, otherwise she's going to outgrow them before she gets to wear them!!

My daughter constantly uses her feet to pick stuff up with...but she was born in the year of the monkey so I guess it's to be expected.

Just watch out for the next stage when they start throwing their poop.

Loving your blog by the way.

I was just thinking the same thing about Miss Moon's clothes. I'm glad she has many, but I'm starting to ponder what the point was since she's either naked or in a diaper shirt/tank.

definitely a stage... and honestly one of my favorite. I just love it when there feet finally reach their mouth. It is so much cuter when a baby does it than when say your 4 yr old does it to CHEW HIS TOE NAILS!! Enjoy this stage while it lasts. Enjoy your summer and try to stay cool.
