mothertalk review: that baby cd and dvd
Have you seen That Baby CD and DVD yet? You know, the ones with the cute kids with guitars on the front covers? The music is pretty cool. It’s kid-friendly acoustic covers of songs I already like: Bruce Springsteen’s Pony Boy, for example, and 10,000 Maniacs’ These Are Days. Good stuff. And I dare you to listen to the CD one time and not walk away singing happiness runs in a circular motion… I don’t know about anyone else, but if I’m going to have to have something stuck in my head, I’d pick Happiness Runs over Thaaaaaat’s Elmo’s World! any day.The DVD is at its best when it showcases kids spontaneously being kids, as in Inch By Inch; other tracks feature cool graphics, puppets, kids dancing and playing, families getting ready for bed, and—least explicably and most uncomfortably—preteens lip-synching The Pretenders’ Brass In Pocket.
Other good stuff: That Baby has a “no questions asked” return policy if you don’t love it, and replaces scratched or damaged discs for free. (Don’t even tell me your kids don’t scratch up every disc in the house.) And you can preview the music and the DVD online.
